EPISODE RECAP
King Viserys dies in his sleep, and Otto Hightower leads a Small Council conspiracy to crown Alicent's son Aegon as king instead of the rightful heir Rhaenyra, resulting in the death of council member Lyman Beesbury and the resignation of Lord Commander Harrold Westerling in protest. After Aegon is reluctantly found and crowned at the Dragonpit despite his own doubts about his father's deathbed wishes, Princess Rhaenys dramatically arrives on her dragon Meleys, destroying much of the ceremony and killing numerous spectators before deliberately sparing Alicent and Aegon's lives, then flies off to inform Rhaenyra of the usurpation and her father's death.
