EPISODE RECAP
After Lord Corlys Velaryon is gravely wounded, his ambitious cousin Vaemond challenges Lucerys's right to inherit Driftmark, prompting Rhaenyra and Daemon to return to King's Landing to defend their son's claim. King Viserys, bedridden and dying, makes a final appearance in the throne room to support Lucerys's succession, and though Daemon violently kills the disrespectful Vaemond, Viserys's dying wish for family reconciliation briefly brings both sides together at a supper that evening. That night, as Viserys passes away, he deliriously confuses Alicent with his daughter and mentions Aegon the Conqueror's prophetic dream, leaving Alicent to believe he has named their son Aegon as heir instead of Rhaenyra, setting the stage for civil war.
