Roger continues pulling the rope, which has drawn several large objects, which Patty believes to be bodies, to the surface of the water. Donna advocates they pull them to shore, and Patty and Ellis agree with her, outvoting Roger, who thinks they should try and return to Colony House before dark. While they drag the bodies onto the shore, Tabitha and Ethan bury the injured bird, who has passed away due to its injuries. Ethan glumly wishes the lake was actually the Lake of Tears, and asks his mother if they will be alright. She answers that she hopes so as they finish the burial.

At the Sheriff’s Station, Jade hallucinates that the motel sign now reads ANSWERS, with a large arrow pointing down the road, and realizes that the mushrooms kicked in, informing Boyd. He begins to panic as he hallucinates a swarm of spiders, but Boyd snaps him out of it, and suggests they see Kristi. Jade refuses, and asks Boyd to be his anchor and tell him what is real and what isn’t. They agree that Capricorn will be their safe word, and Jade heads down the road, in the direction of the arrow.

At the Clinic, Kristi and Mari set Sophia’s arm. Mari goes to the ambulance to fetch brace, but has a vision of being shackled to the wall and hearing a chorus of screams over the radio. Meanwhile at the Settlement, Donna and the others uncover several large dolls, wrapped in weeds. Donna cuts into one and finds only stuffing. Frightened, Donna remarks that the dolls would make excellent scarecrows, and worries that they were in the lake to keep something from coming out.

Jade and Boyd wander through the forest as the mushrooms continue to affect Jade. Jade comes across a vision of his 12-year-old self playing the violin from the day his grandmother passed away. He explains to Boyd that she had asked him to play for her, so he played all day. As he shouts in frustration that he wants to remember why they are trapped in the Township, he begins seeing other visions, including the Colonial Man, while Boyd tries to keep him grounded. The Colonial Man says “Anghkooey,” and he shouts at his younger self to stop playing. Boyd asks for an update, and Jade explains that an impaled man is offering him a cup of blood in a skull. Boyd tells him to drink it, as the blood isn’t real, and might lead to answers. Young Jade urges him not to drink, but Jade heeds Boyd’s instructions, drinking the blood, before being horrified to find spiders at the bottom of the skull. Young Jade, speaking in French, scolds him, as now Jade will see memories he does not want to see. As Young Jade walks off, Jade and Boyd follow.

At Colony House, Fatima makes progress on the Golem. Kenny arrives to apologize for not being supportive, admitting he got scared. Before he leaves, he recalls that Fatima said she was still connected to Smiley, and asks what it feels like. Fatima admits it is terrifying, and every night she goes to the window and looks outside, knowing one day she will see him staring back. Kenny tells her that she can rely on him if she needs anything. As he heads downstairs, he runs into Henry holding a jug of vodka.

Kristi goes to the ambulance to check on Mari, and finds her curled up in the corner. Mari tells her that she is fine and returns inside with the brace.

At the Settlement, the group packs rocks into the bodies of the dolls, preparing to sink them. Ellis notes the absurdity of the situation, and Donna advises he not think about it. Ethan asks if she really thinks there is something bad in the water, and she answers that she would prefer not to find out. As she helps, Tabitha begins having flashes to her childhood. Noticing something is off, Donna pulls her aside. Tabitha explains that she is seeing flashes of the dolls’ faces, but cannot remember anything beyond that. The group pushes the dolls back in the water, hoping they will sink.

Jade follows his younger self, asking him to explain what he meant. However, Young Jade disappears, and Jade calls for Boyd, who suggests they stop, but Jade hears more violin music and follows the sound to the source. He tracks it to  Colony House, where he sees Christopher, the Colonial Man, the Civil War Soldier, and the Man Trapped by the Boulder playing violins.

In the kitchen, Victor finds his father drinking and staring at the drawing of the Man in Yellow eating Miranda’s body. Henry asks Victor what he does for fun, drunkenly telling him he has to live, not just wait around for the Creatures. As he stumbles around the house, he asks for a deck of cards. Finding a piano, he begins singing and reminiscing about Victor’s childhood. A concerned crowd gathers, and Kenny and Victor try to approach him, but Henry reacts angrily, apologizing to Victor and then urging him to show everyone the picture, shouting “what’s wrong with you” as Kenny and Meredith restrain him.

Tabitha stares at one of the Totems, while Donna starts a campfire nearby. Ethans asks her if they will be okay, and Donna reassures him that they will head back in the morning.

At the Clinic, Sophia overhears Julie and Randall arguing about the Storywalking. Randall believes that she is putting herself at risk for nothing, but Julie insists that she is willing to take that risk. Randall replies that were Jim with them, he would agree with Randall. Sophia leaves, amused, and eavesdrops on Kristi and Mari arguing about Mari’s episode. As Mari leaves, she runs into Sophia, who forces Mari to experience further visions of her time in the Dungeon, while feigning concern, and Kristi calms Mari down.

Jade explains to Boyd that he is seeing all his previous visions gathered on the porch. Young Jade helps him realize that they are all his past lives. Urged to look closer, he examines each one and realizes that none were killed by the Creatures, but they were murdered. Jade asks his younger self who murdered them, and Young Jade answers he already knows, telling him “minnows in a shark’s net.” Jade realizes that the people in Town murdered his past lives, and Young Jade explains that when the people in Town realizes what he is, they turn on him and kill him, and it is even worse for Tabitha. Jade asks him how he can stop the cycle from repeating, but Young Jade just looks sadly back at him.

Kenny and Victor get Henry upstairs and into bed. Kenny asks Victor what his father was talking about, and Victor hands him the drawing, explaining that the Man in Yellow ate his mother, regretting that he told his father.

Jade follows his younger self into the basement, followed by Boyd who asks him to explain himself. Jade follows Young Jade deeper into the basement, who tells him he has to clear the way to see the path. Removing the objects stacked against the wall, he finds a door.

At the Clinic, Sophia gives Mari water, and the nurse explains how she felt like she was trapped in the dungeon again. Sophia exclaims that Mari is a prophet, and God has chosen her to hear their suffering. Mari starts to leave, and Kristi tries to tell her that she has seen the horror of the Township get in people’s heads but Mari says that there is an ancient evil in the Township, feeding off their suffering and the suffering of the dead, and they will never get to leave.

That night, as they take shelter in a cabin, Ellis compliments Ethan on his maturity. As they anxiously await sunrise, they begin to hear vocalizations outside the cabin. Tabitha remembers the tune, and Donna asks her what she is remembering. Tabitha remembers that she played with the dolls, then normal sized, but an angry man threw them in the lake, believing they gave him nightmares. After his death, his nightmares came out of the lake. Tabitha begins panicking, insisting they have to leave. One of the Possessed Dolls then breaks through one of the cabin walls. Donna rushes to get everyone out, while Ellis tries and fails to save Roger, whose head is ripped apart by the Doll. Donna and the Matthews hide by a half-finished cabin, but Ellis realizes Patty is missing. He finds a Doll dragging Patty to a the embers of the fire and pressing the side of her face to it. Ellis sets the Doll on fire and rescues Patty. Another Doll grabs Donna and begins choking her, but Tabitha impales it with a  stick, seemingly killing it.

In the basement of Colony House, Jade opens the door, and finds it leads to a massive, hall, with spiders and webs in the ceiling. As Jade walks down the hall, it shifts into the Tunnels. Boyd tells him they should leave, invoking the safe word. Jade presses on, and follows Young Jade to the chamber where the children were sacrificed. Jade asks how they can save them if he and Tabitha have already tried and failed. Jade is then greeted by a group of Creatures, who grab him and force him into a stone coffin which they cover up with a stone slab. Inside, a Ghoulish Child tells him “Anghkooey.” Jade screams as Boyd brings him back to reality in the Sheriff’s Station, and Jade is shocked when he is informed that he has been sitting in the Station for hours. Jade turns to Boyd and tells him he knows how to get them home
