Boyd finds Jade’s idea to venture into the Tunnels to find the bones of the Ghoulish Children preposterous and dangerous, much to Jade’s chagrin. He asks Jade how the bones help them get home. Jade notes that many cultures revere the remains of their dead, and given that the Township was built on a sacrifice, the bones may anchor the spirit of the Children. Boyd remains skeptical, but Jade believe he can convince him by taking him to the hidden door in the basement of Colony House. The next morning, Jade and Boyd find Acosta sorting through the junk in the basement. Jade finds a wall and removes the stuff piled against it, only to find a stone wall, to his dismay.

Jade continues to try and convince Boyd, who steadfastly believes the plan is suicide. The conversation grows heated as Boyd asks Jade how many he is willing to sacrifice, while Jade asks Boyd how many he has already lost. Jade warns him that “grit and good intentions” can only hold the place together for so long. Kenny walks in on the argument, and Boyd takes him outside and tells him about Jade’s plan. The two reminisce about how they used to be able to count the nights without incident, and Kenny shows him Victor’s drawing of the Man in Yellow eating his mother. They are alerted to the fact that Victor is standing on the roof.

Boyd and Kenny rush to the roof, where they ask what he is doing. Victor recalls how when he was young, there was a man who jumped from the roof because he hated the Township so much, but the fall only injured him and he took days to die. Victor asks if they are here because of what he told his father, and he voices regret for telling his father. Boyd asks for more information on the Man in Yellow, while trying to ease him away from the edge. Boyd convinces Victor to join them inside to tell them more about the Man in Yellow.

Julie finds Sara bringing paint to her house, as she wanted to do something nice for Sophia. Julie apologizes for not understanding what Sara went through, but now feels as if she does. Touched, Sara invites her inside to help paint.

In his room, Victor explains that the Man in Yellow seemed like a nice, normal man when he arrived. He notes that he arrived in a large brown car that he brought to the Car Graveyard. They ask him to take him there, but are interrupted by Donna, who tells Boyd and Kenny they are needed at the shed. On the way, Donna says that Ellis is fine, but Patty is at the Clinic. Once inside, she and Tabitha show them Roger’s corpse. Donna bluntly tells them that giant dolls came out of the lake and attacked them, killing Roger. Tabitha killed one with a Totem, but the next morning they found Roger’s mouth sewn shut, and buttons sewn onto his eyes. Donna adds that they brought Totems back with them.

Fatima shows Ellis the Golem. Ellis explains that he is struggling to understand everything that is going on and asks her to tell him what is going on, as he does not want to dismiss her concerns as he did with the pregnancy. Fatima tells him that she often felt powerless and scared as a child, but her father told her stories like the Golem of Prague to let her believe in something magical.

Ethan finds Victor drawing the Man in Yellow’s car, and asks him why he was so frightened of it. Victor does not want to answer, given his father’s reaction. Ethan says that he will not tell Victor what happened at the Settlement, but asks if he can draw with Victor, which Victor allows. As he draws, Ethan tells him that there monsters in the form of giant dolls in the lake, but his mother killed one.

Sophia finds Henry at the Sheriff’s Station while looking for Boyd. Noting that Henry seems troubled, she also eyes her former clothes on the table. She follows Henry to the Bar. Asking to sit with him, they toast to the “resiliency of the human spirit.”

In Donna’s room, Tabitha explains that in her dreams, she was a child, and a man threw the dolls, which he feared, into the lake, but they came to life after he died. Kenny observes that their nightmares become part of the Forest, recalling something Sara theorized when the cicadas were swarming Town. Donna breaks down, asking how they will tell people that they must now face literal nightmares that they cannot be protected from. As she leaves to splash water on her face, she collapses in the hallway, experiencing a heart attack. Kenny leaves to fetch Kristi while Boyd begins administering CPR.

At the Clinic, Kristi and Marielle tend to a sobbing Patty. Kenny informs them that Donna had a heart attack. They arrive at Colony House five minutes later, and begin using the defibrillator on her. However, Donna remains without a pulse. Boyd panics, refusing to let Donna die, continuing to administer CPR. Donna’s pulse returns, and Boyd rushes to get the monitor from the ambulance.

Downstairs in the basement, Boyd asks for the extra wires for the Radio Tower, explaining that Donna had a heart attack. Jade answers they are in the shed. As they rush to grab them, Jade is shocked by the sight of Roger’s body, which Boyd promises to explain later after they grab the wires. Ethan comes outside, drawn by the commotion, and Tabitha informs him of Donna’s heart attack. Ethan asks if it was caused by the Settlement or the Dolls, but Tabitha assures him it was not, but he asks to say goodbye, reasoning that everyone in the Township dies.

Jade hooks the monitor up to the lightbulbs. The monitor reveals that her vitals are stable, but she is not waking up. Kristi explains that they do not know how long her brain was deprived of oxygen, and she does not know if she will wake up. Kenny knocks, asking if Ethan can come in. They allow him to enter, and he promises to remember that fear makes them heroes, and to be brave, adding that he loves her before leaving.

As Henry and Sophia finish the bottle of vodka, Sophia tells him to get another. Sophia asks why he was staring at the yellow clothes, and he explains that the man that wore them did horrible things to his family. Sophia asks where the man is now, and Henry answers he hopes he is rotting in hell. They drink to their families, but Sophia cuts herself on a broken glass. While Henry fetches a clean rag, Sophia adds several drops of her blood to Henry’s glass.

Randall finds Bakta leaving the Diner with a crate of food. She informs him that Donna had a heart attack, so she is going to cook for the residents. Randall is shocked, and offers to help her.

As Sara and Julie paint, they remark how strange it is to do something normal. Julie asks what little things Sara misses the most, and Sara answers candy, to Julie’s amusement. She reminisces about a doughnut store Jim used to take her to, and regrets how she stopped going with him. Sara asks Julie why she now understands what Sara went through. Julie sadly explains that something in the Township convinced her that she could go back and save her father. Sara pulls her into a hug and comforts her.

In Colony House, everyone waits for updates on Donna’s condition. Ellis finds Boyd, and remarks that his wife is building a monster in a room full of dirt, but it is exactly what she needs. Marielle exits, and says there is no change, but that Boyd can sit with Donna. Kristi leaves him alone with Donna, and tells him alert her if there is any change. Once alone, Boyd tells her that he cannot lead without her, and orders her to wake up as they have things to do, refusing to say goodbye. A vision of Father Khatri then asks what he will do if she does not wake up, and Boyd scolds him for asking.

Downstairs in the kitchen, Bakta and Randall prepare a stew. Noticing Elgin in the corner, she orders him to come in and help. Meanwhile, Boyd reminisces about how Khatri scared them by running into the path of their car the day his family arrived. He recalls how the first thing Donna asked them was if any of them snore. Amidst all of the fear and the screaming, Donna remained calm, and explained that snoring would lead the Creatures to them. Boyd continues to fondly remember how Donna hated him at first, but things changed as they got to know each other. He admits to Khatri that he has no idea what he will do if Donna dies. Khatri tells him that he needs to listen to Jade, but Boyd snaps at him. Donna wakes up, and Boyd calls for Kristi. He exits, and happily informs everyone that Donna has woken up.

At the Bar, Henry finds a rag for Sophia’s wound. They drink to her good health, and Sophia ask him if he ever thought that this is all just a dream, given how nothing feels real.

As Boyd walks outside the greenhouse, Khatri again confronts Boyd. Boyd asks if what Tabitha said about nightmares coming to life is true, and Khatri answers it might be. Boyd recalls how Martin told him that the Creatures are only the tip of the spear, and asks Khatri if the Children’s bones are down there. Khatri answers he does not know, but must take a leap of faith. When Boyd turns back, Khatri is gone. Eying the shed, Boyd says to himself that he refuses to take a chance with something like this. Grabbing a sledgehammer, he ventures down to the basement, and hammers down the wall where Jade thought the door would be, and finds the door Jade described. Jade is shocked, and Boyd tells him they need a plan.
