Boyd and Ellis bring Randall, who has been mutilated by the Creatures, into Colony House. Marielle begins tending to him as everyone stares in horror. Randall begins struggling, and as Boyd tries to restrain him, accuses him of abandoning him to the Creatures.

The next morning, Jade and Kenny bring the injured Kristi to the Clinic, where she is taken by Marielle. Jade and Kenny ask about the ambulance, and Boyd reveals that Tabitha has returned, much to their shock. Boyd explains her story, and Jade runs off.

In Colony House, Donna finds Henry looking for clothes, and tells him that she has people looking for Victor. Henry nervously says he would have dressed better for the occasion, and Donna takes him upstairs to where they keep the nicer clothes.

Victor and Sara plan an expedition into the Tunnels to find Jasper, and go to Colony House for supplies. Inside, they find the remains of the carnage from the previous night, and are informed that Nicky was killed and Randall injured. Donna pulls Victor aside and tells him that Tabitha returned along with his father. Victor refuses to believe it and runs out, followed by Sara who asks what happened. Victor says his father is back, and she should go home.

In the Lius’, Tabitha tells her family about her experience in the outside world. Julie is confused by how she was teleported to the real world, but Jim is happy that they are reunited. Jade bursts in, and begins asking about the Bottle Tree and the Lighthouse. Jade insists that they return to the tree. Tabitha says she will speak at the Town meeting, but Jade wants to leave immediately.

In the Clinic, Kenny explains that they will have to return to the Log Cabins for the remaining food, but warns that both times he has been there he has observed something walking around outside at night. Boyd says they have bigger things to worry about. Kenny asks why the Creatures didn’t kill Randall, and Boyd answers that they want the Townspeople to be constantly afraid, and no longer be able to pretend that they are safe.

Marielle examines Kristi’s ankle, and explains what happened with Nicky. Kristi tries to reassure Mari that Nicky’s death was not her fault. Mari believes that Kristi is insinuating that she will begin using again. The two are interrupted by Randall, who wakes up in pain, and Mari goes to tend to him, followed by Boyd and Kenny. Mari tells Boyd that he will only makes things worse here, but he can be of more use in Town now that Tabitha has returned.

In Colony House, Donna brings Henry to Victor’s room. Henry explains that he held on to hope that Miranda, Eloise and Victor would return, alive and happy. Eventually, he lost hope, but now Henry marvels at the fact that he was alive all this time, and blames himself for giving up on him. Donna comforts him, telling him to give Victor time. Tillie interrupts, and tells them that the meeting will begin soon.

At the Diner, the residents of Town and Colony House gather. Boyd begins by telling them that they have no easy explanations, and to be mindful of the fact that Tabitha has been through a lot. Dale leads the others in demanding that Tabitha speak, but Donna calms them down. Bakta asks Henry why he was in the ambulance, and as he begins to explain, Tabitha arrives, with Jim. Dale immediately asks if she went through a tree. Tabitha begins explaining her story.

Meanwhile, Julie goes to Colony House. Finding the place empty, she goes to Fatima and Ellis’ room and gazes out the window, flashing back to her first night in Town, when Fatima told her that “if you climb high enough, even a nightmare can look like a dream.” She then retrieves a pouch of weed. As she goes down the stairs, Elgin almost hits her with a fireplace shovel. Admitting that he is not okay, Julie invites him to keep her company.

In the Car Graveyard, Sara finds Victor, who says he never drew pictures of his father, as he only drew pictures of what happened in Town and had convinced himself that what came before was a dream. Sara tells him that none of that matters, and all that does is that his father is back. Victor says that Henry is expecting a little boy, and asks what Henry will think of him. Sara admits she does not know, and while she does not know Victor well, she knows he is a good person. Sara adds that maybe they are both afraid of meeting each other and not being what the other remembers.

As Elgin and Julie smoke, Elgin explains the visions of the Kimono Woman, who now appears when he is awake and asked for his help. Elgin muses that his mother would say it was an angel. Julie confesses that she would prefer the Kimono Woman over what she hears in her head, which is mostly screaming, but the weed quiets it. Elgin asks if she’s talked to her parents, and Julie says they are too busy trying to figure out what happened to her mother. Julie admits that she does not believe it significant, and that the only reason the place exists, or let Tabitha out in the first place, is to make them all suffer. Elgin remarks that she is depressing when stoned and the two begin to laugh.

Tabitha concludes her story for the people in the Diner. Fatima asks if she tried reaching out to the police, and Tabitha says she wanted to, prompting anger. Tabitha justifies herself, saying they would not have believed her, and Henry tries to back her up, pointing out that he didn’t believe her at first, and that his circumstances are different than the average person’s. Acosta agrees, noting that she and the EMTs thought Tabitha hysterical, but this only angers people further, who point out that she killed Nicky. Clara admonishes Tabitha for wasting her opportunity in the outside world to get help. Jim asks the crowd what they would have done. Fatima also criticizes Tabitha, who apologizes for not finding answers and leaves.

Boyd reminds the crowd that Tabitha escaped, and they should have hope now that it is possible. Dale then demands to go to the Bottle Tree, riling up the crowd. Boyd begs them to think, but Bakta agrees that the equation seems simple: Tabitha went through the tree and escaped. Boyd warns that they cannot just run into the Forest, but Fatima says that they should head to the tree, and Ellis agrees. Boyd warns them that the trees are not simply a magic door, reminding them that he almost died after going through one. Kenny agrees with Boyd, reminding the crowd that it was the Lighthouse that allowed her to escape. Dale says he is going to the Lighthouse, declaring himself done with Boyd and his rules before leaving.

In the Lius’ Home, Ethan asks Jade why he didn’t go to the meeting, and he answers that any meeting with more than three people is useless. Tabitha and Jim return, and they admit the meeting went poorly. Tabitha says they should go to the tree, admitting that the crowd was right. Jim is reluctant, pulling Tabitha aside and warning her to think, reminding her that they all thought her dead. Tabitha says that all she will do is show them the location of the tree. Jim insists that Ethan remain, telling her that he would run off when she was gone. Tabitha agrees, ordering Ethan to remain in the house while she and Jade head to the tree.

Ellis runs after Boyd, who scolds his son for stirring up the crowd with Fatima, describing the situation as a powder keg. Ellis insists that they need to take action rather than sit around worrying about the possibilities. Boyd asks whose life Ellis is willing to gamble on. Boyd warns that what happened at the meeting was dangerous.

In the Colony House basement, Julie and Elgin sort through the vintage clothing kept there, joking about people in the 80s fleeing the Creatures in fluorescent spandex and large hairdos. The two try on old clothes and find a polaroid camera.

Acosta approaches Boyd in his office, thanking him for sticking up for her in the Diner. Admitting that she cannot take back what she did, she offers to help. She advises him to give the Townspeople something to focus on besides the tree, explaining that after a large storm had flooded the town, her precinct captain had people sandbag the marina, even though the worst had passed, to make them feel in control. Boyd reacts with anger, reminding her that her actions cost people their lives and could have killed more.

Outside Colony House,  Fatima goes to the greenhouse to eat some of the rotten vegetables. Ellis follows her, and asks what she is doing. Fatima tells him that she was just checking on their supplies. Ellis says he is trying to be supportive and help but Fatima snaps, saying he cannot help and revealing that the rotten crops are the only food she can keep down. She tearfully tells him that there is something wrong with the baby.

Ethan exits his house and finds Henry looking at the motel sign. The two introduce each other, and Ethan thanks him for bringing her back, inviting him to join him in feeding the animals. Ethan asks if he has seen Victor yet, and Henry says he thinks Victor is unhappy with his arrival, having run off when he heard. Ethan acknowledges that Victor does that sometimes, and explains that Victor is his best friend. Ethan believes that Victor gets grumpy when he gets scared, and that Victor is afraid that everyone he loves will die.

As Victor and Sara return to Town, they see Henry walking with Ethan. Ethan points him out in the distance. As Sara reassures Victor, he and Henry approach each other. Henry pulls Victor into a hug as he begins sobbing. Victor says he didn’t know how to get home as Henry comforts him.

In the Diner, Bakta cleans up and notices Boyd outside eyeing the bus. Inside, Boyd looks at Randall’s belongings, and Bakta asks what he is doing. Boyd admits that he is trying to assuage his guilt. Bakta tells him it was not his fault, and apologizes for not being more supportive at the meeting. Boyd acknowledges they have a right to ask questions, and he is tired of not having answers. Bakta is amused, noting that he reminds her of his sister, who always tried to make things right, but ended up feeling like she was in the wrong. Bakta notes that Boyd is just trying to keep them from doing something stupid, and promises to have his back next time.

At the Bottle Tree, Jade tries knocking bottles down. Tabitha tells him that the papers only have numbers written on them. Jade points out that they all have four numbers written on them, and theorizes that they may be dates. However, Tabitha points out that one reads 2659, and thinks that Jim might be right. Jade sits beside her, and admits that he saw the Ghoulish Children, having gone into the Tunnels to find something to help Julie. He explains that he saw the Symbol as a hole in the ceiling, with the lines formed by roots, while the children were on stone slabs repeating “anghkooey.” Jade says he never felt such fear, but felt like there threads finally starting to connect. Jade insists that they cannot deny what the tree did, and believes that the bottles must mean something. Dale arrives, and he marvels at the Bottle Tree. Tabitha and Jade try to convince Dale not to go inside the tree. Dale insists that they have to try, and says they will thank him later as he disappears inside.

As they leave the bus, Boyd and Bakta notice screaming coming from the pool as a crowd gathers. They find Dale, who has been teleported into the concrete wall of the pool, and is slowly being crushed and suffocated to death. Boyd apologizes to Dale, preparing to shoot him to end his misery. However, Dale dies before he can shoot. Boyd turns on the crowd and asks them if they still want to go through the tree. Boyd reminds them that he is trying to keep them all alive, but cannot help them if they do not let him. Donna arrives, and is shocked by the site of Dale’s body.
